How metadata helps others use your research data

Describing your data helps you and others to understand it in the future. This can take the form of metadata in a standard format or schema, or by providing contextual information in a supporting file.

For guidance on metadata standards and other forms of data documentation, see the Describing Data page on the Emory Research Data website.

Emory’s open data repository, Dataverse, includes descriptive information about each dataset. For more information about the required and recommended metadata included with datasets in the Emory Dataverse, see the Dataverse How-To guide.
